The Purpose

OK, you're on to me. This blog has nothing to do with llamas. However, one day I hope to post hilarious pics of some really jacked up llama that I find up in the Andes. Llamas are just funny.

Many of you are aware of the long process we have endured in order to get to Peru. We are not there yet, but we are very close. The purpose of our blog is to keep you updated on our progress as we continue on this God-sized journey.

Here is a quick look at our upcoming timeline:

1. 12/07- finish our jobs here in the states
2. 01/08- prepare for our move overseas, garage sale, crate the things we will ship to Peru
3. Feb 1, 08- caravan with 2 other missionary families to Richmond, VA
4. Feb 4-Apr 4, 08- spend 2 months in orientation outside of Richmond
5. late Apr, 08- move to Costa Rica for a year of language school
6. summer 09- move to Peru and begin working with the Quechua people

In the States, there are churches on every corner, Bibles in every home and hotel, preachers on every TV(some of them even preach the Bible). We have access to the gospel. We can ask someone about Jesus, dust off our Bible and read about Him for ourselves, or go to church on Sunday and hear a sermon about Him. It is so common we take it for granted or dismiss it or reject it.

Doesn't every person have this kind of access? Simply put, NO! The Quechua don't have that kind of access to the gospel. They are only 2% evangelized. There is a Christian witness among them but it is very small. And that is why we are going to minister to them.

Here are some Biblical teachings most of the Quechua have never heard:

• Everyone is a sinner (Romans 3:23)
• Sin separates us from God (Romans 6:23)
• God loves us and made a way for us (John 3:16)
• Christ died in our place (Romans 5:8)
• Being a good person doesn't get you into heaven (Ephesians 2:8-9)
• Jesus is the only way to salvation (John 14:6)
• We are saved when we place our faith in Jesus Christ alone and make him the Lord of our lives (Romans 10:9-10)

Many people believe that Jesus Christ is Lord. Many people refuse to believe in Jesus. EVERYONE should have the opportunity to hear what Jesus Christ has done. If the Quechua never hear the gospel, they cannot respond in faith to Jesus Christ. That is why we are going to Peru.

Technology baby steps

We finally figured out how to get the entire title to show up and how to get me signed on to post useless info as well. Just kidding- everything I have to say is important!! ha,ha Anyway, I am almost as technologically clueless as Brian- so we will have to see how this all works out. Hopefully we will get some pictures on here soon. Two cute boys on a blog make up for lots of errors!!

I may have this thing figured out about the time I retire. I am computer illiterate. This is not really a post. It is more of a space filler so I can see just exactly how inept I am at all of this. Maybe at some point the title will actually be visible.
